If you have young children or babies but still want the Sydney Ocean Beach experience then the “Mermaids Pool” is the spot for you. It’s a sheltered man-made pool that uses the ocean’s fresh water and sand so perfect for kids who are not quite ready for the waves and surf.

There is a little sand area for building sand castles and a beautiful wall mural that frames the spectacular views of Bondi Beach. Just above the pool area is a grassed reserve with electric BBQ’s and shade. There isn’t any shade near the actual pool but there are some steps to sit on and relax as the kid’s splash around and have a ball. On weekdays it feels like a little oasis but Bondi Beach itself being a hot tourist spot it’s very busy on weekends. If you can brave the crowds it’s well worth it!
